โครงการบ้านพักพิงโรนัลด์ แมคโดนัลด์ เฮาส์ เพื่อผู้ป่วยเด็กและครอบครัว เป็นบ้านชั่วคราวซึ่งมูลนิธิ โรนัลด์ แมคโดนัลด์ เฮาส์ ประเทศไทย บริจาคสร้างบนพื้นที่ของโรงพยาบาลเพื่อให้ครอบครัวผู้ป่วยเด็กที่ป่วยขั้นวิกฤตได้เข้าใช้บริการ โดยไม่คิดค่าใช้จ่ายใด ๆ ตลอดการเข้าพัก บ้านพักพิงฯ เปิดให้บริการตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง 7 วันต่อสัปดาห์ เป็นการช่วยแบ่งเบาภาระค่าใช้จ่ายด้านการเงินและค่าเดินทาง ครอบครัวสามารถอยู่ใกล้ชิดกับลูกได้ในช่วงเวลาสำคัญและยังช่วยให้กระบวนการรักษาครบวงจร แพทย์เจ้าของไข้ผู้ป่วยเด็กสามารถทำการรักษาได้อย่างรวดเร็วและทันท่วงทีมากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งในกรณีฉุกเฉิน เนื่องจากพ่อแม่ผู้ปกครองไม่ต้องเสียเวลาในการเดินทาง ลดความกังวลทั้งผู้ป่วยเด็กและครอบครัว อีกทั้งยังช่วยแก้ปัญหาการที่ครอบครัวผู้ป่วยเด็กต้องหาที่นอนในพื้นที่สาธารณะ (ริมทางเดินหรือเก้าอี้) ในโรงพยาบาล

วัตถุประสงค์

เพื่อช่วยเหลือครอบครัวผู้ป่วยเด็กที่ยากไร้ให้มีที่พักที่มีมาตรฐาน โดยไม่มีการคิดค่าใช้จ่าย เว้นแต่จะบริจาคตามกำลังความสามารถและจิตศรัทธา
เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกขั้นพื้นฐานให้แก่ครอบครัวผู้ป่วยเด็กที่ต้องเดินทางไกลมาจากต่างจังหวัด
เพื่อผ่อนคลายความทุกข์ของครอบครัวผู้ป่วยในการหาที่พักพิงในภาวะวิกฤตทั้งด้านเศรษฐกิจที่ไม่เอื้ออำนวยให้สามารถพักแรมเป็นเวลานาน และสภาวะทางจิตใจในระหว่างที่เด็กรักษาตัวในโรงพยาบาล

ปัจจุบันในประเทศไทย มีบ้านพักพิงฯ 4 แห่ง

สถาบันสุขภาพเด็กแห่งชาติมหาราชินี (โรงพยาบาลเด็ก)
ที่ตั้งอาคารมหิตราธิเบศร ชั้น 6 มีพื้นที่ 524 ตรม. ประกอบด้วย ห้องนอนเดี่ยว จำนวน 2 ห้อง, ห้องนอนรวม (หญิง) จำนวน 17 เตียง, ห้องนอนรวม (ชาย) จำนวน 16 เตียง, ห้องพักผ่อน, ห้องนั่งเล่นและรับประทานอาหาร, ห้องครัว, ห้องซักล้าง และสวนเปิดให้บริการตั้งแต่เดือนมิถุนายน 2554
โรงพยาบาลนพรัตนราชธานี
ที่ตั้งอยู่ในพื้นที่โรงพยาบาล เป็นบ้านเดี่ยว 2 ชั้น บนพื้นที่ 597 ตรม. ประกอบด้วย ห้องนอนเดี่ยว จำนวน 3 ห้อง, ห้องนอนรวม (หญิง) จำนวน 20 เตียง, ห้องนอนรวม (ชาย) จำนวน 10 เตียง, ห้องพักผ่อน, ห้องนั่งเล่นและรับประทานอาหาร, ห้องครัว, ห้องซักล้างและสวนเปิดให้บริการตั้งแต่เดือนตุลาคม 2556
โรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ สภากาชาดไทย
ที่ตั้งอาคารสก ชั้น 12 พื้นที่ 617 ตรม. ประกอบด้วย ห้องนอนเดี่ยว จำนวน 3 ห้อง, ห้องนอนรวม (หญิง) จำนวน 20 เตียง, ห้องนอนรวม (ชาย) จำนวน 15 เตียง, ห้องพักผ่อน, ห้องนั่งเล่นและรับประทานอาหาร, ห้องครัว, ห้องซักล้าง เปิดให้บริการตั้งแต่เดือนกรกฎาคม 2560
ตั้งอยู่ในโรงพยาบาลศิริราช
ที่ตั้งอยู่ในพื้นที่โรงพยาบาล (ติดทางเข้าประตู 10 ถนนวังหลัง) พื้นที่ 374 ตรม ภายในบ้านพักพิงฯ ประกอบด้วย ห้องนอนเดี่ยว 2 ห้อง พักได้ห้องละ 2 คน ห้องนอนรวมหญิง 26 เตียง, ห้องนอนรวมชาย 16 เตียง ให้บริการครอบครัวผู้ป่วยได้ 46 คน มีสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวก ได้แก่ ห้องพักผ่อนและให้คำปรึกษา ห้องนั่งเล่น, ห้องรับประทานอาหาร, ห้องครัว และห้องซักล้าง เปิดให้บริการตั้งแต่เดือนพฤศจิกายน 2561

ปัจจุบันบ้านพักพิงฯ ทั้ง 4 แห่ง สามารถให้บริการปีละ 58,400 คืนต่อปี ตั้งแต่ปี 2554-ปัจจุบัน ให้บริการที่พักแก่ครอบครัวผู้ป่วยเด็กไปแล้วมากกว่า 26,000 คน
